About
What is the purpose of J4TL ?
-The main purpose of the event is to lift up and glorify our Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ. The goals include reaching the lost, lifting up the down trodden,
bringing churches together, giving Christians a time of fellowship, learning from the
various ministries, making new contacts with other Christian groups... not to mention
having a wonderful time.
Is J4TL one person, church, or organization ?
-No, quite the contrary. J4TL is built up from participating area churches. The
J4TL does have a committee of elected members. The committee includes board members from different churches, with each
member having a specific duty.
How long has the J4TL been around ?
-2011 will mark the 5th annual event. With that said, J4TL has been around since
before many of us were even born. Yep it really was, it was just under different
names. We did not create the J4TL, we just gave it the “JAM 4 THE LAMB“ name.
When you have an event or festival at your church, where singing and fellowship
is involved you are in everyway having a “JAM 4 THE LAMB”. The concept has been
around forever. We only magnified the concept, and went outside the walls of the
sanctuary, invited all the Christian churches, and a whole lot of bands.
Why did we create this J4TL ?
-We didn’t just create a festival, it was very much inspired. The Livesay family
of Buffalo Grove Baptist Church was given the inspiration for the event by our
Lord.
After the family joined Buffalo Grove Baptist Church, they saw God working
through the youth, congregation, and Pastor John Pinkston.
The Livesays wanted to give something back, so with the help of the entire
church the “JAM 4 THE LAMB” was born.
Where was the first ever J4TL ?
-The first event was at the Livesay residence. It was a two day
event, and made use of 2 hay wagons for a stage.
How did the first J4TL turn out ?
-A complete success. The attendance of 150 people represented 3 area churches. Three individuals found their way to the homemade altar.
Who were the bands at the first J4tL, and why is there so much Christian
contemporary and rock music?
-The band “Walking by Faith” was the opening act, followed by “Lift Him Up”. The
band “Lift Him Up” were at the forefront of the music at J4tL... and still are today.
Regarding the style of music, we really do
try to mix up the music to a degree. The fact is, everyone has a certain style
of music they like, and prefer, but we really try to focus on the youth and
young adults. While this event does not exclude the older generation, as we appreciate their
support and leadership through out all these events, we are trying to grab a
hold of the next generation of Christian leaders, and all the surveys you will
find, show that youth prefer the rock and pop sound of secular music. We
offer that sound with the words and Gospel of Jesus Christ. In ACTS 2 you will
see that the Lord our God gave his people the power to speak in other tongues so
that all who were near, no matter their language, could receive the Gospel of
Jesus. What that passage tell us is, God’s word will reach us in what ever style
of music as long as it’s God’s word. That being said, we do have some Southern
styles of music, including southern gospel, bluegrass, country, rock, rap, blues,
soul, and any other style can be used for God’s work.
The future of “JAM 4 THE LAMB”
Well, the future is up to you. This festival is now a rather large event, and
will either grow and prosper or vanish. When we completed the first "Jam 4 The
Lamb", we started getting the question, "when will the next one be ? " So far we
have been allowed to answer that question year after year with awesome God
inspired shows, but now I ask you, " when will the next Jam 4 The Lamb be ?"
Like I said at the start of this statement, the future is up to you, the
churches, businesses, and others just like us. Thousands of dollars are spent to
put the event on, do you wonder where the money comes from ? It comes from God,
through churches, businesses and just good 'ol regular people. Sometimes its a
dollar, sometimes its a thousand, but the money will never come if we do not
give faithfully. Please help us to keep the Jam 4 The Lamb from being just a
topic of " the good 'ol days" conversations. During this scary time that our
nation faces, people need hope, and my friends there is more than hope in the
name Jesus Christ. Come together with us, let us glorify our Lord through this
years event. Please pray for what you can do for Jam 4 The Lamb this year. God
accepts all that accept Jesus.
After much prayer, Derrick and Stephanie Webb, of Morristown, are going to be taking a lead role in Jam 4 The Lamb. Please pray for them. Specifically pray that God would give them the wisdom and knowledge they need to lead this ministry effectively.
